Andhra Pradesh police return 583 phones to owners, track 1,203 to 20 other states using IMEI-based tracking
The Andhra Pradesh police have recovered over 15,000 stolen or lost mobile phones worth ₹30.49 crore and returned 583 of them to their owners under the 'Mee Mobile – Mee Intiki' programme.
The recovered mobile phones were tracked and recovered using IMEI-based tracking, technical investigation, and the assistance of the Cyber Division. The 'Mee Mobile – Mee Intiki' programme was launched to provide services to the people in a more transparent, faster and trustworthy manner.
Of the recovered mobile phones, 1,203 were traced to 20 other States, while 2,863 were traced to 18 other districts in Andhra Pradesh. The value of the recovered mobile phones ranges from ₹499 to ₹1.41 lakh.
Special chatbot services were launched on June 26, 2022, for reporting lost mobile phones. The chatbot services, along with the Cyber Division, have played a crucial role in recovering the stolen or lost mobile phones.
