EPS pensioners can now submit their life certificate from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to various digital methods and doorstep services. Every year, over 1 million EPS pensioners need to submit a life certificate to continue getting their pension without a break.

The life certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan, is a biometric-enabled service that allows pensioners to submit proof of being alive. Pensioners can use the UMANG app and the Face RD app to complete the process digitally. Alternatively, they can request a doorstep visit by a postman or a Grameen Dak Sevak through India Post's doorstep service, which is available to both IPPB and non-IPPB customers.

To use the doorstep service, pensioners can contact their nearest post office or call the IPPB doorstep banking helpline at 033-22029000. Once the biometric authentication and submission are completed successfully, a Pramaan ID will be generated. The Digital Life Certificate facility is available to pensioners of central and state governments and public sector undertakings.

To submit a Digital Life Certificate, pensioners need to provide their Aadhaar number, active mobile number, pension type, name of the pension-sanctioning authority, name of the pension-disbursing agency, Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, and pension account number. The DLC submitted will be valid for one year from the date of submission.

## Why it matters The ability to submit life certificates from home is a significant convenience for EPS pensioners, who can now avoid the hassle of visiting a bank or pension office. This facility is especially useful for pensioners who may have mobility issues or live in remote areas. By submitting their life certificate digitally or through the doorstep service, pensioners can ensure that they continue to receive their pension without any interruption.

The life certificate is an essential document that confirms the pensioner's existence and eligibility to receive pension payments. By making it easier to submit this document, the government is helping to ensure that pensioners receive their dues on time. With the digital and doorstep services in place, EPS pensioners can now submit their life certificates at any time of the year, provided it is submitted within the stipulated timeframe from the date of the last submission.
