Sangam ITI Eyes ₹8 Crore Shift
Nellore institute may relocate to Lanco premises, boosting student capacity from 120
The Sangam ITI in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district may be shifted to the incomplete premises of Lanco company, located in Tharunavayi village in Sangam mandal. The proposal was made by SPSR Nellore Collector Himanshu Shukla after inspecting the buildings on Thursday.
The visit was made at the behest of Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who is also the local legislator. The Collector discussed with officials the works required to make the buildings functional, including providing electricity, drinking water, and other allied infrastructure.
The estimated initial cost to complete the necessary works is ₹8 crore. The Collector suggested tapping funds from industry through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to complete the first phase of construction, which would enable the institute to be shifted at the earliest.
The ITI currently has 120 students and 11 teachers, and is functioning from the Government Polytechnic building in Atmakur. The Collector is confident that the student strength would increase once the institute is shifted to the new premises.
