Barilla Buys Gal Gadot's Mac & Cheese Brand
Goodles, the US-based mac and cheese company co-founded by Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, has been acquired by pasta giant Barilla in a deal that will see the brand operate independently, with financial terms not disclosed

Barilla, the world's largest pasta company, has acquired Goodles, a US-based mac and cheese brand co-founded by actress Gal Gadot and her husband, Jaron Varsano. The company will remain headquartered in Santa Cruz, California, and operate independently as a standalone brand.
Goodles was founded in October 2020 as Gooder Foods, with a mission to create a more nutritious alternative to traditional mac-and-cheese products. The brand has gained popularity in the US market, with its products sold in major grocers and independent stores.
Jen Zeszut, co-founder and CEO of Goodles, will continue to lead the 73-employee team, and the company will maintain its independence in terms of product development, recipes, quality, ingredients, suppliers, and marketing. Guido Barilla, chairman of the Barilla Group, expressed his admiration for the strength of the Goodles brand, the quality of its products, and the momentum behind its growth.
Barilla's acquisition of Goodles is pending regulatory approval. The pasta giant has been expanding its operations in the US, with a recent $145m investment in its facility in Avon, New York. In 2025, Barilla reported revenue of €4.83bn ($5.6bn) and an operating profit of €370.9m, representing a 27% increase.
## Why it matters The acquisition of Goodles by Barilla marks a significant move for the pasta giant, as it looks to expand its portfolio and reach new markets. With Goodles operating independently, the brand will be able to maintain its unique identity and continue to innovate in the mac-and-cheese space. The deal also highlights the growing demand for healthier and more nutritious food options, as consumers increasingly seek out brands that prioritize quality and taste.
## What happens next The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval, after which Goodles will continue to operate as a standalone brand. With Barilla's support, Goodles is expected to expand its reach and product offerings, while maintaining its commitment to quality and nutrition. As the global food landscape continues to evolve, the partnership between Barilla and Goodles is likely to have a significant impact on the market, with the potential to drive growth and innovation in the pasta and mac-and-cheese sectors.
