Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive Expands
A new board game, War for Roshar, and a special edition of The Fires of December are coming, as Sanderson works on Mistborn Era 3 and other projects in the Cosmere universe
Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series is expanding with a new board game, War for Roshar, and a special edition of The Fires of December. The series, which has five books available and five more planned, is also being adapted into a TV series with ten episodes.
War for Roshar is a strategic board game set in the Stormlight Archive universe, designed by John D Clair. The game is available as part of a Kickstarter campaign and is set to launch in Fall 2026. Players will take control of leaders such as Dalinar, Kaladin, Raboniel, and Taravangian, leading their armies into battle while managing champions, resources, and alliances.
In addition to the board game, a special edition of The Fires of December will be released in December 2026, in collaboration with Illumicrate. The book is part of the Cosmere universe and will feature a newly illustrated dust jacket, full-color and/or foil designs printed directly onto the hardback, sprayed edges that match the story, and illustrated endpapers.
Brandon Sanderson is also working on Mistborn Era 3, with the first book expected to be released in December 2028. The Mistborn film, which is expected to be released no earlier than 2029, has completed its first draft, with Sanderson collecting feedback and expecting at least three more revisions before it is ready.
The Cosmere universe is expanding in other ways, with the Cosmere Roleplaying Game set to include a Mistborn adaptation, and Clockwork Revolution, a steampunk RPG with Mistborn-inspired elements, to be released in 2027 on Xbox and PC.
