Cher's Control Bid Rejected

Cher's bid to place her son Elijah Blue Allman under a court-ordered conservatorship is being contested by his wife, Marieangela King Allman. Elijah is currently in a locked psychiatric facility in New Hampshire facing criminal charges, including trespassing, criminal threats, and simple assault.

Cher has filed a petition to place a professional fiduciary in charge of Elijah's finances, but Marieangela has filed a counter-petition arguing that she should be given control instead. According to Marieangela, Cher and Elijah have an 'extremely poor relationship, and many unresolved trust issues', which she claims would make it difficult for Cher to act in Elijah's best interests.

Elijah was arrested in New Hampshire on February 27 on suspicion of trespassing, criminal threats, and simple assault. He allegedly made criminal threats at a school and broke into a woman's house in New Hampshire. Marieangela claims that Cher has used her fame and money to manipulate doctors and other professionals to interfere in her relationship with Elijah.

Marieangela also claims that Cher's previous attempt to be named Elijah's conservator was rejected, and that she should be given priority if a judge determines he needs help managing his affairs. She says she dismissed divorce proceedings earlier this year at Elijah's urging and is asking a California judge to reject Cher's pending petition.

## Why it matters The outcome of this case will determine who controls Elijah's finances while he is in the psychiatric facility. If Marieangela is successful, she will be given control of his finances, while if Cher's petition is granted, a professional fiduciary will be appointed. The case highlights the complexities of conservatorship and the challenges of balancing the needs of individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues.

## What happens next A California judge will review the petitions and make a decision on who should control Elijah's finances. The outcome will have significant implications for Elijah's care and well-being, as well as the relationships between Cher, Marieangela, and Elijah. Marieangela has expressed concerns that if Cher is appointed as Elijah's conservator, it would 'demoralize' him and jeopardize his chances of recovery.

The case is ongoing, and a decision is expected in the coming weeks. The outcome will provide clarity on the future of Elijah's care and finances, and will have significant implications for the family involved.
