LA Residents Get Relief
Universal Studios Hollywood to install sound barriers to reduce noise from new Fast & Furious roller coaster after complaints from neighbors

Universal Studios Hollywood will install two additional sound barriers to reduce noise from its new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster after receiving complaints from nearby residents. The construction of the sound barriers is expected to be completed by early next month.
The Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster is currently undergoing technical rehearsals and has been found to be operating in compliance with sound ordinance requirements. Despite this, local residents have reported that the screams from riders have been causing a disturbance, with some describing the noise as sounding like "bloody murder" or "someone is getting murdered out there."
The roller coaster features rotating vehicles moving at speeds up to 72 mph, which has brought intense reactions from people living in the adjacent Toluca Lake neighborhood. Universal Studios Hollywood had already incorporated sound walls, scream shields, and pea gravel inside the coaster tracks to dampen sound before testing.
A community meeting will be held to address local concerns about the roller coaster, and a community hotline has been arranged to address concerns about the roller coaster. Los Angeles City Councilmember Adrin Nazarian announced the park's update on social media, stating that "We heard you" and that Universal will start installing two additional sound barriers to address noise concerns.
## Why it matters The installation of sound barriers is a response to the concerns of local residents who have been disturbed by the noise from the roller coaster. The move is seen as a positive step towards addressing the issue and finding a solution that works for both the theme park and the surrounding community. The fact that Universal Studios Hollywood is taking steps to reduce noise levels, despite the coaster already meeting sound ordinance requirements, shows that the company is committed to being a good neighbor and listening to the concerns of local residents.
The issue of noise pollution is an important one, and it can have a significant impact on the quality of life for those living in the surrounding area. The installation of sound barriers is a common solution to this problem, and it is often used in areas where noise levels are a concern. In this case, the sound barriers will help to reduce the noise levels from the roller coaster, making it easier for local residents to enjoy their homes without being disturbed.
