Nicholas Hoult Cast As Gilderoy Lockhart
Hoult joins HBO's Harry Potter series for season 2, adapting Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which begins filming in the fall

Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of HBO's Harry Potter series. The second season will adapt the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The series is set to premiere its first season on December 25, with Dominic McLaughlin playing Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The main cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
Hoult's character, Gilderoy Lockhart, is a major character in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, known for being a famous wizard and the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.
The second season of HBO's Harry Potter series will begin filming in the fall. Hoult is also known for his roles in films like Mad Max: Fury Road and The Menu, as well as his critically-acclaimed performance in the Hulu series The Great.

The character of Gilderoy Lockhart was previously played by Kenneth Branagh in the Chamber of Secrets movie in 2002. Hoult's latest appearance in a major franchise comes after playing Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast in multiple X-Men films and currently playing Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s DC Studios films.
