Perez Hilton's mother, Teresita Lavandeira, has filed for temporary custody of his three children following his hospitalization for a mental health crisis, with the blogger voluntarily agreeing to the arrangement.

According to Miami court documents, the temporary custody will allow Lavandeira to make medical and dental decisions for the children, access their medical and educational records, and enroll them in school. Hilton signed off on the filing, acknowledging that the arrangement "is in the best interest of the children" and noting he may petition the court to regain custody at any time.

Hilton was hospitalized one week earlier after physically harming himself during a live stream at his Miami home amid a mental health crisis. He was placed under Florida's Baker Act, which allows for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation lasting up to 72 hours. His condition remains serious but stable, though he sustained significant blood loss and injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.

Hilton's three children range in age from 8 to 13. According to sources, the children were already aware of their father's mental health struggles before the incident, having witnessed previous emotional moments when he opened up on social media to his followers. Lavandeira, who has lived with Hilton and the children and been heavily involved in their upbringing, will provide continuity and familiarity during his recovery.

Lavandeira has also filed a separate request to seal the case from public view. In her filing, she argued that "the children in this case should not be subjected to any further trauma related to the incidents that are the basis for the petition," citing the media attention surrounding Hilton's home.
