Projectors outsize TVs, which top out at 115 inches, offering massive displays at a fraction of the cost
The debate between TVs and projectors for a big-screen experience has intensified, with each having its own advantages. Projectors can display images up to 300 inches, making them a more affordable option for large screens. In contrast, the maximum size for consumer TVs is around 98 to 115 inches.
One of the key advantages of projectors is their ability to produce large images at a lower cost. For example, the Anker Nebula X1 triple-laser projector can beam a 4K image up to 300 inches, while the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 4K laser projector can also display a 300-inch image. Mid-priced projectors can beam an image up to 200 inches, or nearly 17 feet diagonally.
On the other hand, TVs are brighter and better in ambient light, making them a good option for rooms with a lot of natural light. However, large TVs come with a hefty price tag. For instance, TCL's 115-inch QM7K QLED Mini LED 4K TV costs $13,998, while HiSense's 100-inch Mini LED model costs $1,750. In contrast, 75-inch Mini LED TVs are available for around $800, and regular 75-inch LED sets can be found for under $500.
## Why it matters The choice between a TV and a projector ultimately comes down to the viewer's priorities. If a large image is the top priority, a projector is the way to go. However, if brightness and ambient light performance are more important, a TV may be the better option. With the increasing availability of large TVs at lower price points, the decision has never been tougher.
