Cat Found After 2 Weeks Loose

A Montreal cat named Caramel has been found after being loose at Toronto Pearson airport for over two weeks. Caramel was one of four cats travelling with Abir Batikhi from Jordan to Montreal on August 17. However, when Abir Batikhi arrived at Montreal’s Pierre Trudeau Airport, only three cats were in their cages.

Caramel escaped onto the airport ramp area near Terminal 3 and ran toward gates 29 and 30 at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The cat's whereabouts were unknown until Wednesday night, when it was located in a cargo facility at the airport and safely captured. Information provided by an airport worker about the cat’s last known location helped the wildlife team focus search efforts in the area where Caramel was ultimately found.

Abir Batikhi had made a plea on social media for anyone travelling through Pearson Airport to keep an eye out for Caramel. The owner was relieved to hear that her cat had been found alive and is expected to arrive in Montreal on Friday. Caramel's adventure at the airport included accessing food, and the cat was found to be wet after being in the rain, but is expected to return to normal once dry.
