2M Animals To Get Aid

Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries Limited, has launched 'Champions Of Care', a community animal welfare campaign aimed at supporting local organisations across India. The initiative is expected to reach about two million animals every year.

The initiative brings together more than 50 animal welfare organisations from across India, working with street animals such as dogs, cats, working donkeys and horses, and abandoned cattle. These organisations will receive assistance for veterinary hospitals, mobile rescue units, feeding programmes and rehabilitation efforts.

The initiative will provide support to local animal rescue organisations, including medical equipment, ambulances, diagnostic tools and staff training. This support will enable the organisations to better care for the animals and improve their overall welfare.

The announcement followed a two-day meeting at Vantara in Jamnagar, attended by representatives of participating non-profits and eight members of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). Anant Ambani, who is also the founder of Vantara, aims to make a significant impact on animal welfare in India through this initiative.

## Why it matters The 'Champions Of Care' initiative matters because it addresses the pressing issue of animal welfare in India. With millions of street animals in need of care and support, this initiative provides a much-needed boost to local organisations working tirelessly to improve their lives. By providing essential resources and infrastructure, the initiative will help these organisations to make a greater impact and improve the lives of countless animals.

The initiative's focus on supporting local organisations and providing them with the necessary resources and training will help to create a more sustainable and effective animal welfare ecosystem in India. As the initiative continues to grow and expand, it is likely to have a significant impact on the lives of animals across the country.
