Apple Unveils $2,500 Foldable iPhone Ultra on Sept 9
The tech giant's first foldable phone features a book-style design, titanium frame, and crease-free display, with IDC predicting over 10 million units sold in its first year

Apple is set to launch its highly anticipated foldable iPhone, dubbed the iPhone Ultra, at its September 9 event at Apple Park. The device is expected to feature a book-style design with an outer display of around 5.3 inches and an inner display near 7.8 inches.
The iPhone Ultra will also boast a titanium frame and a display that is close to crease-free, addressing a key weakness of rival foldable phones. Additionally, the device will replace Face ID with Touch ID in the power button, likely due to the lack of space for the sensor array on a foldable device.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to be priced around $2,200-$2,500, making it the most expensive iPhone Apple has sold to date. Despite the high price point, IDC predicts that Apple will sell over 10 million units of the iPhone Ultra in its first year.
The September 9 event will also see the introduction of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which are expected to feature an A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process, Apple's own C2 modem, a variable-aperture main camera, and a smaller Dynamic Island. The event will be hosted by incoming CEO John Ternus, marking his first public introduction.
## What to Expect The event will also feature the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra, rounding out a significant product launch for the tech giant.
## Why it Matters The launch of the iPhone Ultra marks a significant shift in Apple's product strategy, as the company splits its annual iPhone cycle into two events for the first time. This change could have a major impact on the consumer technology calendar, which has traditionally revolved around Apple's September keynote.
The iPhone Ultra's high price point and foldable design are expected to appeal to a niche market, but IDC's prediction of over 10 million units sold in its first year suggests that Apple is confident in the device's potential. As the company continues to evolve its product lineup, the success of the iPhone Ultra will be closely watched by industry analysts and enthusiasts alike.
