Free Up PC Space
Delete hidden space-hogging items with Windows' built-in storage tool

To free up space on your Windows PC, you can use the built-in storage management tool in the Settings panel. This tool provides a breakdown of storage usage by category, making it easy to identify and clean up space-hogging items.
The Windows Settings panel can be accessed by pressing Win + I, which takes you to the System > Storage page. Here, you'll see the total space in use on your main disk, along with a breakdown of what's taking it.
The Installed apps category is one of the biggest space hogs. By clicking on it and sorting by size, you can identify large apps and uninstall them if you don't use them anymore. Some programs, like games from the Microsoft Store, also provide a Move option to relocate them to another drive.
The Temporary Files category shows several checkboxes for items like Thumbnails that can be deleted to free up space. You can also click Cleanup System Files to show more types of clutter.
In addition to these categories, the Storage used on other drives option can be accessed by expanding the Advanced storage settings section. The System & reserved section shows how much storage Windows features are using.
Before deleting any items, it's essential to check the Recycle Bin and Downloads folder, as they can contain items that take up a lot of space. By following a methodical approach, you can easily clean up space-hogging items and free up space on your Windows PC.
