Genki has launched a new customizable controller called the Manta, which features a 2.9-inch LCD screen and adjustable buttons. The controller is available for preorder on Kickstarter with a discounted price of $189 for early backers.
The Manta controller has a range of innovative features, including 'tristage triggers' with three switchable trigger modes, and drift-resistant tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) thumbsticks with adjustable tension. The controller also has six additional remappable buttons located on the back and shoulders, and linear magnetic ram motors in the grips for haptic feedback.
The Manta controller features a dedicated Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller for customization, allowing players to configure and switch between multiple console, game, and user profiles. The controller also has a 2,600mAh user-replaceable battery.
## What sets it apart The Manta's focus on customizability sets it apart from other controllers. Players can adjust thumbstick response and dead zones, increase the intensity of the haptic feedback, remap buttons, and record, edit, and combine multiple button presses to create custom macros.
## Why it matters The Genki Manta controller is significant because it offers an especially deep level of customization, allowing players to tailor the controller's functionality and feel to each game. With its unique design and range of innovative features, the Manta is likely to appeal to gamers who value flexibility and precision.
The full retail price of the Manta controller is $279, but early backers can preorder it on Kickstarter for $189. This is Genki's ninth crowdfunded device, and the company has an excellent track record of delivering products through Kickstarter.
