Microsoft Unveils Project Zenith

Microsoft has announced Project Zenith, a 'distraction-free Windows experience' for developers. This new project aims to provide a streamlined Windows experience with pre-installed developer tools and settings optimized for development.

Project Zenith devices require 64GB or more of unified memory, and the first device to feature this experience is AMD's Ryzen AI Halo mini-desktop. This device is designed to provide a clutter-free environment for developers to work on their projects.

The Project Zenith experience comes with a range of pre-installed developer tools, including Visual Studio Code, GitHub Copilot, PowerToys, WinAppCLI, and Windows Dev Skills. Additionally, the devices will have settings such as full file extensions and hidden files enabled by default, allowing developers to work more efficiently.

One of the key benefits of Project Zenith is the ability to run 30B+ parameter models locally and unmetered, accelerating experimentation and reducing reliance on metered cloud tokens.
