Spotify Adds Playlist Notes
New feature allows users and editors to add context to songs, podcasts, and audiobooks in playlists, rolling out to users in several countries

Spotify has introduced a new feature called Playlist Notes, which allows users and editors to add context to songs, podcasts, and audiobooks in playlists. The feature is currently rolling out to users in several countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Playlist Notes feature is available on both Free and Premium plans for users aged 16 and up. It allows users to add notes to songs, podcasts, and audiobooks in playlists, providing context and explanation for why a particular track was added.
Spotify editors will also use Playlist Notes to explain why a track is included in a playlist, highlighting its cultural relevance and significance. Users can view these notes by tapping the 'Notes' button at the top of participating playlists, which include Today’s Top Hits, RapCaviar, Hot Country, All New Pop, mint, and Fresh Finds Hip-Hop.
The feature is an extension of the earlier User Notes feature, which allowed users to add notes to individual tracks in playlists they owned. Playlist Notes expands on this, covering not just tracks but also audiobooks and podcast episodes that users add to playlists they own or collaborate on.
## What it means The introduction of Playlist Notes is part of Spotify's efforts to improve the playlist experience and provide more context and personalization for users. By allowing users and editors to add notes to playlists, Spotify aims to make the listening experience more engaging and meaningful.
The feature is rolling out on Android and iOS in over 100 regions, and users can start adding notes to their playlists immediately. With Playlist Notes, users can share their thoughts and feelings about a particular track, and editors can provide insight into the reasoning behind their playlist choices.
## Why it matters The introduction of Playlist Notes matters because it provides a new way for users to engage with music and podcasts on Spotify. By adding context and explanation to playlists, users can gain a deeper understanding of the music and podcasts they listen to, and editors can provide more insight into their playlist choices. This feature is part of Spotify's ongoing efforts to improve the user experience and provide more value to its users.
