United Delivers To Your Gate
Order 10+ essentials, from salads to chargers, via the United app at Newark Liberty International's Terminal C, with Houston next.

United Airlines is testing a new service that delivers food and essentials to passengers' gates at Newark Liberty International's Terminal C. The pilot program is available for both domestic and international flights departing from select gates at the terminal.
The service allows passengers to order items through the United app and pick them up at designated shelves at their gate. United Airlines is teaming up with OTG to manage the dining and shopping experiences for this preliminary testing period.
Passengers can order a range of items, including salads, sandwiches, chips, candies, kids meals, drinks, over-the-counter medicine, travel pillows, and charging cords. The available items for purchase cater to various needs, making it convenient for passengers to grab what they need before their flight.
The pilot program is currently available for select flights departing from or connecting through nine designated gates at Newark Liberty International's Terminal C. If the pilot is successful, the service will be expanded to Houston later this year.
## What's Next United plans to integrate the service into its in-flight entertainment systems in the future if it decides on a wide rollout. This would enable transit passengers to order items before they even land, making the service even more convenient.
The new service is part of United Airlines' efforts to enhance the passenger experience. The airline recently launched a new feature that allows passengers to join standby lists through its app in case of disruptions. This feature enables passengers to sign up for standby on up to three earlier flights if they are rebooked to a later flight.
## Why It Matters The new service matters because it provides passengers with more convenience and flexibility. By allowing passengers to order essentials and pick them up at their gate, United Airlines is reducing the need for passengers to leave their gate and search for what they need. This can be especially helpful for passengers with limited time before their flight or those who prefer to stay near their gate.
The success of the pilot program will determine the future of the service. If it is well-received by passengers, United Airlines may decide to expand it to more airports, making it a standard feature of the airline's service.
