Vodafone TV Takes On Sky
300+ cloud games, Netflix, HBO and 70 live channels from October
Vodafone TV, a streamer and cloud gaming console, is set to launch in October as a rival to Sky. The new service will be available as a set top box and will offer access to various streaming services, including Freely, Netflix, and HBO, as well as over 300 cloud games.
The Vodafone TV hub will run on Android TV, providing users with access to a wide range of apps and games on the Google Play Store. The device will come with subscriptions to Netflix Standard with ads and HBO Max Standard with ads, making it a competitive option to Sky's Ultimate TV package.
In terms of content, Vodafone TV will offer over 70 live channels and thousands of hours of on-demand content through Freely. Users will also be able to rent and buy films through Vodafone Box Office, and a companion app will allow them to start watching something at home and then continue elsewhere via the app.
The Vodafone TV hub is equipped with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and support for 4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. The device will be available to Vodafone's mobile and broadband customers from October, with pricing to be announced later.
