Rajasthan Man Finds Rs 1 Lakh Crore In Account
A technical glitch led to a lien of Rs 1 lakh crore being placed on Sameer Khan's account, freezing his actual savings of Rs 55,000, before the issue was resolved

A man in Rajasthan, India, was shocked to discover a lien of Rs 1 lakh crore in his bank account, which was later found to be a technical glitch. Sameer Khan, who earns a monthly salary of Rs 10,000, had been trying to recharge his mobile phone when he noticed that his account balance showed zero.
Khan works at Nirmal Medical Point, a medical store near Salasar bus stand in Sikar, where he has been employed for around 10 months. He had Rs 55,000 in his bank account, which was frozen due to the technical glitch. The lien of Rs 1 lakh crore was placed on his account, preventing him from accessing his own money.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 28, when Khan opened his Kotak Bank application to make a payment. After entering his PIN, he checked his account balance and found that it showed zero. Upon further examination, he discovered the lien of Rs 1 lakh crore. Unable to understand why his account had suddenly become inaccessible, Khan approached the Sikar Cyber Police Station along with the medical store owner.
The police confirmed that no such amount had actually been credited to or blocked in his account, and the hold on his Rs 55,000 was subsequently lifted. Assistant Sub-Inspector Deendayal of the Sikar Cyber Police Station confirmed that Khan was a resident of the Kotwali police station area and worked at a medical store near the bus stand.
## What happened next The issue was resolved after the bank verified the technical glitch, and Khan's account was restored to its original state. The incident highlights the importance of verifying transactions and account balances to prevent such technical glitches from causing inconvenience to account holders.
## Why it matters The incident is a reminder of the potential for technical errors in online banking systems, which can have significant consequences for account holders. In this case, the glitch not only showed an incorrect account balance but also froze Khan's actual savings, preventing him from accessing his own money. The swift resolution of the issue by the bank and the cyber police is a positive outcome, but it also underscores the need for vigilance and prompt action in such situations.
The incident has been resolved, and Khan's account has been restored to its original state. The technical glitch has been identified and rectified, preventing any further inconvenience to Khan or other account holders.
