The musical adaptation of '10 Things I Hate About You' will begin Broadway performances on August 17, 2027. The production features music and lyrics by Carly Rae Jepsen and Ethan Gruska, and a book by Lena Dunham and Jessica Huang.
The musical is based on the 1999 Touchstone Film of the same name, which starred Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. The plot follows the rebellious Kat Stratford as she is pursued by Patrick Verona, who is paid to take her out on a date. This arrangement is made so that Cameron James can take Kat's younger sister, Bianca, out on a date of her own, per the rules set up by their father.
The production will be directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, known for his work on 'MJ' and 'An American in Paris'. The musical is produced by Mike Bosner in partnership with Buena Vista Theatrical.
