Foo Fighters performed their cover of Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street' on Jimmy Kimmel Live, a song they hadn't played live in nearly 20 years. The band originally released the cover in 1998 as a B-side on the 'My Hero' U.K. single.
The performance marked the final show of their week-long residency on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which also included performances of 'Window' and other tracks. Foo Fighters had previously played 'Baker Street' live earlier this month at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music's 25th anniversary benefit show, where Dave Grohl expressed his love for the song, calling it one of his favorite songs of all time.
Dave Grohl also sat for an interview with Kimmel on Monday, discussing various topics including his passion for smoking meat and his daughter Violet's music career. The band's cover of 'Baker Street' is available on all major DSPs, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
## Why it matters The performance of 'Baker Street' is significant as it marks a rare live performance of the song by Foo Fighters. The band had not played the song live since 2007, and its revival is a treat for fans who have been waiting to hear it again. The song's inclusion in their setlist is also a testament to the band's ability to revisit and reimagine their past work.
The Foo Fighters' week-long residency on Jimmy Kimmel Live was a celebration of their music, with performances of old and new tracks. The band's ability to blend their classic hits with new material is a key part of their enduring appeal, and their performance of 'Baker Street' is a highlight of their residency.
