Universal Pictures is set to adapt Forrest Brazeal's novel 'Paradox Inc.' into a feature film, with Lord Miller producing and Daniel Roher directing and co-writing the treatment. The novel, which will be released by Penguin Random House on January 19, 2027, is about a rivalry between a startup and a Big Tech company to build the world's first consumer time machine.
Lord Miller, the production company of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will produce the film through their first-look deal with Universal Pictures. Lucy Kitada, Aditya Sood, and Forrest Brazeal will also produce or executive produce the film, with Ryan Jones and Christine Sun overseeing the production for Universal.
Daniel Roher, who won an Oscar for his 2022 documentary 'Navalny', will co-write the treatment with Matthew Robinson. Robinson has previously worked on the sci-fi horror flick 'The Last House' and 'Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die'.
The novel 'Paradox Inc.' is a debut work by Forrest Brazeal, who has a background in Silicon Valley, having worked at Google during the peak of the AI and crypto crazes. Brazeal is also known for co-founding the technology marketing company Freeman & Forrest and creating YouTube videos and webcomics that skewer the tech industry.
