Google is offering eligible college students in the US a free year of Google AI Pro, a service normally priced at $19.99 per month. This offer includes various educational tools and features, such as a dedicated Student Hub, study notebooks, and interactive learning experiences.
Eligible college students outside the US can get a free year of Google AI Plus, which includes Gemini Omni, 4x higher usage limits in Gemini, and 400GB storage. This offer provides international students with access to premium Gemini features and massive cloud storage.
In addition to the free AI plan, Google is also offering a bundle option for US students. A Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium bundle is available for $8.99 per month, which is a 70% discount off the regular price. This bundle can be subscribed to for up to four years, and verification through SheerID is required.
Google has also added a range of educational tools to its services, including a student hub to Gemini with study notebooks, diagnostic quizzes, and study plans. Google Search can generate custom tools and simulations for complicated concepts, along with practice quizzes for various standardized tests. Lens in Search will soon include an interactive learning experience for breaking down tough problems.
## Why it matters The offer of a free year of Google AI Pro or AI Plus to eligible college students is a significant move by Google to support education and provide students with access to premium AI features and tools. With the start of the new semester approaching, this offer is likely to be attractive to students looking to enhance their learning experience. After the free subscription period, Google will charge $19.99 per month for AI Pro unless the plan is canceled. Students must be 18 years or older to be eligible for the free AI plan.
## What happens next Students can sign up for a free AI plan on Google's website through December 31, 2026.
