Punk Pioneers Heavens to Betsy Return with First Album in 30 Years
The duo's new album, Baby's Gone, features a previously unreleased demo tape and tracks from their 1993 and 1994 EPs, tackling topics like rape culture and intersectional politics

Heavens to Betsy, the punk duo consisting of Corin Tucker and Tracy Sawyer, is releasing their first full-length album in 30 years, titled Baby's Gone, on October 16 via Kill Rock Stars. The album features a previously unreleased demo tape recorded in February 1992 by Bratmobile's Molly Neuman, as well as tracks from their 1993 and 1994 EPs, These Monsters Are Real and Direction.
The album will be released in two special vinyl variants, CD, and cassette, and will include 16 tracks, including the single 'Ain't Never Goin' Back'. Heavens to Betsy will also release a limited edition of the original demo tape with recreated artwork.
The duo's music addresses topics such as rape culture, intersectional politics, body shaming, and celebrations of female friendships, queerness, and community. Corin Tucker and Tracy Sawyer's relationship with Molly Neuman, who recorded their first demo tape, has been instrumental in their music. Tucker says, 'Molly's such a leader, and she's such an intellectual. She grasped right away that it was important for young women to have these tools to express themselves.'
## What's Next Heavens to Betsy has announced a tour, which kicks off on October 16 at Fine Line in Minneapolis. The duo's reunion and new album release come after a long hiatus, with their last studio album, Calculated, released in 1994.
## Why it Matters The release of Baby's Gone is significant, as it showcases the duo's continued relevance and urgency in addressing social issues. The album's topics, such as rape culture and intersectional politics, are just as relevant today as they were in the 1990s. Heavens to Betsy's music has been a pioneering force in the punk scene, and their return is a welcome addition to the music world.
The album's release is also a testament to the enduring power of female friendships and queerness in the music industry. Corin Tucker and Tracy Sawyer's reunion and new album release are a celebration of their music and their relationship, which has stood the test of time. With the release of Baby's Gone, Heavens to Betsy is poised to make a significant impact on the music scene once again.
