Birkenstock Soars 11.59%
Revenue jumps 13.3% to 719.5 million euros on strong demand for premium footwear, including popular ballet flats
Birkenstock's shares jumped 11.59% on August 13 after the company announced its fiscal 2026 third-quarter results, which showed stronger-than-expected revenue and solid online growth. The company reported revenue of 719.5 million euros in the third quarter, a 13.3% increase from year-ago levels.
The company's profits were 109.6 million euros in the third quarter, down 15.2% from year-ago levels. Despite this, Birkenstock's CEO Oliver Reichert expressed confidence in the company's future growth, citing increasing global demand for its premium footwear, including its popular ballet flat collection.
Birkenstock has been expanding its product line to include ballet flats, driven by the increasing global demand for this type of footwear. The company collaborated with Repetto on a ballet flat collection, which has been well-received by consumers. Reichert expects the demand for ballerina shoes to continue for the next three to five years.
The company invested 26 million euros in capital expenditures during the quarter to add production capacity and expand retail operations globally. This investment is expected to support the company's future growth and help it to capitalize on the increasing demand for its products.
Birkenstock's market capitalization is $7.54 billion, despite its stock being down 18.7% since its initial public offering in October 2023. The company's total addressable market is limited only by the global population, giving it a significant opportunity for future growth.
## Why it matters The increasing demand for ballet flats and other premium footwear is being driven by a combination of factors, including nostalgia and the growing popularity of this type of footwear among Gen Z consumers. Birkenstock's ability to capitalize on this trend and expand its product line to include ballet flats has helped to drive its growth and increase its revenue.
The company's focus on innovation and newness, including its collaborations with other brands and its investment in product development, is expected to continue to drive its growth in the future. With its strong brand and increasing demand for its products, Birkenstock is well-positioned for future success.
