Carrefour Returns to India
The French retailer launches 50,000ft² flagship store with 15,000 products in Greater Noida West, marking its comeback after 8-year exit
Carrefour has re-entered the Indian market with the opening of its first flagship store in Greater Noida West through a partnership with Apparel Group. The store, located in the H&S Mall, Boulevard Walk, measures more than 50,000ft² and carries over 15,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs), including bakery, fresh produce, grocery, household essentials, and personal care products.
The store's product range includes a mix of imported products and locally sourced assortments tailored for the Indian market. This launch marks the beginning of Carrefour's planned expansion across North India, supported by local supplier partnerships, supply chain infrastructure, and an omnichannel retail network.
Carrefour initially entered the Indian market in 2010 but exited in 2014 due to its inability to find a partner to expand its business to a multi-brand retail format. The company operates more than 15,000 stores globally across over 40 countries and reported sales of €91.5b.
Patrick Lasfargues, Carrefour's international partnership executive director, stated that the launch marks a significant milestone for the company as it begins its retail journey in India. He emphasized that the partnership with Apparel Group brings Carrefour's global expertise together with deep local market knowledge, creating a strong platform for sustainable growth.
