## Why it matters The steady corn prices and strong export sales are a positive sign for US farmers, who have been dealing with the impact of trade policies and weather conditions on their crops. The progress of the US corn crop and the expected yield will be closely watched in the coming weeks, as it will have a significant impact on the global corn market.
The corn market is also being influenced by the progress of other crops, such as soybeans, which saw a private export sale of 136,000 MT to China on Tuesday. The USDA's weekly Crop Progress report showed 93% of the US soybean crop blooming by August 9, with 74% setting pods and 5 percentage points faster than the 5-year average.
## What happens next The USDA's August Crop Production report, due out next Wednesday, will provide further insight into the US corn and soybean crops, and is expected to have a significant impact on the markets. The report will include updated estimates of yield, production, and ending stocks, and will be closely watched by farmers, traders, and analysts.
