Microsoft is still investigating an issue that causes the Copilot buttons to disappear in Classic Outlook for some Windows users. The issue affects customers with the Copilot Chat (Basic) license or a paid M365 Copilot (Premium) account.

The problem occurs after upgrading classic Outlook for Windows to build 20026.20182 and higher. According to Microsoft, the issue is caused by Outlook being unable to locate the MAPI property PR_PROFILE_USER_SMTP_EMAIL_ADDRESS_W within the null profile section.

The Outlook Team is actively investigating the issue and has provided a temporary workaround. To resolve the issue, users can enable the 'Show Apps in Outlook' option in classic Outlook settings. This workaround allows users to access Copilot, although the buttons may still be missing from the side navigation and above the ribbon.

In addition to the missing Copilot buttons issue, Microsoft has confirmed a separate bug that causes unexpected Outlook crashes on systems running Kaspersky Antivirus software. The bug triggers 'Event 1000' events in the Application log linked to the Kaspersky Mail Checker (mcou.dll). Kaspersky customers experiencing crashes due to the bug are advised to contact Kaspersky support.

## Why it matters The missing Copilot buttons issue and the Outlook crashes bug affect the productivity and reliability of Microsoft's email client. The Copilot feature is a key component of Microsoft's productivity suite, and its unavailability may hinder users' ability to work efficiently. The Outlook crashes bug, on the other hand, may lead to data loss and disruption of work. As Microsoft continues to investigate and resolve these issues, users can use the temporary workaround to access Copilot and contact Kaspersky support for assistance with the crashes bug.

## What happens next Microsoft will likely continue to investigate and work on a permanent fix for the missing Copilot buttons issue. In the meantime, users can use the temporary workaround to access Copilot. Kaspersky customers experiencing crashes due to the bug should contact Kaspersky support for assistance. As the issues are resolved, Microsoft will likely provide updates and notifications to affected users.
