Bonnie Chan's contract will be renewed from March 1, 2027, to February 28, 2030. She is the first woman to serve as CEO of the city's exchange operator.
Under Bonnie Chan's leadership, HKEX has broadened its business footprint, evolved its listing framework, and delivered enhancements to its technology infrastructure and market microstructure. Carlson Tong, HKEX chairman, praised Bonnie Chan's leadership, saying she has led HKEX Group with vision, purpose and distinction.
The longest-serving CEO of the bourse was Charles Li Xiaojia, who was in charge for 11 years from 2010 to 2021. Bonnie Chan's contract extension is for 3 more years, a move that aims to strengthen Hong Kong's role as a leading international financial centre.
