Ted Sarandos, Netflix co-CEO, visited Seoul to celebrate the streaming service's 10-year anniversary in Korea. The event, dubbed 'Netflix Janchi', attracted over 10,000 local fans and drew an additional 3.58 million cumulative online views.

The celebration marked a major milestone for Netflix in Korea, where the streaming service has found significant success with its Korean programming. In fact, Korean programming is now Netflix's most-watched non-English-language content category, with over 80% of Netflix members worldwide having watched at least one Korean title.

Ted Sarandos took the stage to express his appreciation for the Korean creative community and preview upcoming content, including local titles such as Possible Love and Solo Leveling. He also acknowledged the impact of Korean stories on global culture, saying 'Ten years ago, we dreamed big, but none of us could have imagined that Korean stories would move hearts around the world, and land right at the center of global culture'.

The success of Korean content on Netflix is evident in the numbers, with more than 200 Korean titles appearing on the platform's Global Top 10 chart since June 2021. Additionally, Korean productions have generated over 12 billion viewing hours, and the three seasons of Squid Game occupy the top three spots on Netflix's all-time most-watched non-English television list.

## Why it matters The celebration of Netflix's 10-year anniversary in Korea highlights the significance of the country's creative industry in the global entertainment landscape. With Korean programming becoming increasingly popular worldwide, the partnership between Netflix and Korean creators is expected to continue producing successful content. As Ted Sarandos noted, 'For Netflix, Korea is more than a market. It is where we discovered new possibilities, and where we learned how far a story can travel, and it is one of our most treasured partners for the future we are building together'.

## What's next As Netflix looks to the future, it is likely that the streaming service will continue to invest in Korean content and talent. With a slew of upcoming titles, including Possible Love and Solo Leveling, fans of Korean programming can expect more exciting content in the coming months. The success of Netflix in Korea serves as a testament to the power of global storytelling and the importance of partnerships between streaming services and local creative industries.
