## Why it matters The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is a Government of India initiative encouraging people to bring the national flag into their homes and display it as a symbol of national pride. The campaign was envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and aims to foster a deeper personal connection with the Tricolour and invoke feelings of patriotism among citizens. As India celebrates its 80th Independence Day, the campaign encourages citizens to display the national flag at their homes and participate in a nationwide celebration of patriotism.
The campaign has evolved into a public participation drive where citizens can hoist the Tiranga, click photographs and share their participation online. Citizens are encouraged to display the Tiranga at their homes, offices, and institutions around Independence Day, while following the rules governing the respectful display of the national flag. The Flag Code of India provides rules on how the national flag should be handled and disposed of when it is no longer in a fit condition.
