Matic Cues: Talk or Point to Clean with Robot Vacuum
Matic's new feature allows users to control their robot vacuum and mop using voice and gesture commands in over 70 languages, making it easier to operate without the app

Matic has introduced a new feature called Matic Cues, which enables users to control their robot vacuum and mop using voice and gesture commands. This feature allows users to simply talk to their robot vacuum or point at a mess to clean it, making it easier to operate the device without needing to use the app.
The Matic Cues feature understands commands in more than 70 spoken languages, making it accessible to a wide range of users. According to Matic co-founder Mehul Nariyawala, the feature has been nine years in the making. The team began pursuing natural voice and gesture interaction when Matic was founded in 2017 and has now made the technology available using the hardware already inside customers’ homes.
Matic Cues is designed to allow children, grandparents, visitors, and people who do not speak English to operate the robot without learning another interface. The feature uses the robot's existing vision hardware, including five cameras, to enable gesture control. Matic's voice control is powered by Google Gemini, and the wake word for Matic Cues is 'Hey, Matic'. Any command after 'Hey Matic' is sent to the cloud anonymously.
The feature is rolling out to every existing Matic through an over-the-air software update and will be included on all new robots. Matic Cues launches on August 13 at 2 pm ET, and users can access the feature through the Matic app under Settings > Matic Cues.
## Why it matters The introduction of Matic Cues is significant because it makes the robot vacuum and mop more accessible and user-friendly. The feature eliminates the need to use the app for everyday cleaning, allowing users to simply talk to their robot vacuum or point at a mess to clean it. This is especially useful for children, grandparents, and visitors who may not be familiar with the app or may not speak English.
The price of the Matic robot vacuum will increase from $1,245 to $1,495 on September 9, but the introduction of Matic Cues may make the device more appealing to potential buyers. With its advanced voice and gesture control features, the Matic robot vacuum is now more competitive in the market.
## What happens next Matic Cues is available now, and users can start using the feature to control their robot vacuum and mop. As the feature rolls out to all existing Matic robots, users can expect a more seamless and intuitive cleaning experience. With its advanced technology and user-friendly interface, the Matic robot vacuum is poised to become a leader in the market.
