The VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard has been introduced, boasting a peak brightness level of 1,400 nits and a full-screen brightness of 700 cd/m². This new standard promises a high dynamic range experience for the next generation of OLED displays.

The ViewSonic VG1457 is a dual-screen portable monitor that features a compact frame and competitive pricing, with a weight of 2.6 pounds and a price tag of sub-$350. In comparison, the Arzopa Z3FC portable monitor has a price of $140 and features a 16.1-inch IPS panel with 2560x1440 resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate over USB-C.

The VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard features a 95% range of color with a maximum black level luminance of 0.0005, and a 40% jump in peak and sustained luminance over the previous highest standard. This means that explosions, sun glare, reflections, and other peak lighting details will pop significantly more, with a sustained full brightness of at least 700 nits.

With its high dynamic range experience and peak brightness levels, it promises to provide a more immersive experience for gamers and a more efficient workflow for professionals.

The ViewSonic VG1457 and Arzopa Z3FC portable monitors are just a few examples of the many devices that will benefit from this new standard. As the technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see more devices with higher peak brightness levels, faster refresh rates, and more advanced features.

## Why it matters The VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard matters because it sets a new benchmark for the industry, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with OLED displays.
