Six people from Gujarat were killed and one injured in a fatal road accident in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district on August 9, 2026. The incident occurred near Panchakvasa bridge on the Ujjain-Badnawar road when a container truck collided with a van they were travelling in.

The truck driver has been taken into custody for allegedly driving the vehicle at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner. According to the police, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The deceased have been identified as Nitesh Bhai, Mayur Kumar Chauhan, Vishal Kumar, and Rakesh Bhai, all residents of Godhra, Gujarat. The family from Gujarat was returning after visiting the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain when the accident occurred.

One passenger is currently in hospital in a critical condition. Dhar Superintendent of Police (SP) Sachin Sharma said the driver of the truck has been taken into custody and a case will be registered under strict provisions.

The incident took place around 1.30 p.m. when the truck coming from the wrong side crashed with the van head-on, killing six out of seven passengers on the spot. The police have initiated legal action in the matter and a medical examination will be conducted on the truck driver.
