Brazil's Ambassador to Ethiopia says relations are poised for further growth, with expanding opportunities for economic cooperation and trade, as the EU also reaffirms its support for Ethiopia's economic reform agenda
Brazil's Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jandyr Ferreira dos Santos, says relations between Brazil and Ethiopia are entering a promising new phase with expanding opportunities for economic cooperation, trade, investment, and strategic sector partnerships.
Agriculture is a natural area for expanded cooperation between Brazil and Ethiopia, with both countries having vast potential to exchange expertise and technical knowledge. Ambassador Santos has been in Addis Ababa for four years and has observed major transformations across both the capital and the national economy.
The European Union (EU) has also reaffirmed its support for Ethiopia's comprehensive economic reform agenda, with the EU expanding cooperation with Ethiopia in key areas, including digital infrastructure, renewable energy, public health, climate action, green transition initiatives, and international trade.
The EU and its member states will continue supporting Ethiopia's reform efforts through cooperation aligned with the country's development priorities. Ethiopia will host the 32nd United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP32) next year, and the EU is prepared to make a meaningful contribution toward ensuring a productive and successful global climate conference in Ethiopia.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) could also significantly expand intra-African trade and help unlock Africa's broader economic potential.
