Own Hekla Aurora: Icelandair's Northern Lights Plane Turned Into Keychains

Icelandair's iconic Northern Lights plane, Hekla Aurora, a Boeing 757-200, has been retired and its aircraft skin is being transformed into limited edition keychains. The plane, which was given a Northern Lights-themed makeover in 2014, remained in service until 12 October last year.

The keychains are available for purchase, with prices starting at €39.95. For serious collectors, sets of nine or 14 keychains are available for €409.35 and €634.30 respectively. Each keychain is unique, featuring a mix of blues, greens, and blacks, with no two pieces looking exactly alike.

Icelandair has teamed up with Aviationtag to create the keychains. The collaboration is a way for the airline to preserve the aircraft's livery and give fans a chance to own a piece of aviation history.

To celebrate the launch, Icelandair is giving away 10 keychains to fans who comment on their social media pages with memories of flying on Hekla Aurora or viewing the Northern Lights in Iceland.
