Taylor Farms Recalls Salsa, Guac Over Salmonella
Over 20 prepared food items containing jalapeños are being pulled from stores in 26 states after a supplier recall, with 345 people sickened across 27 states so far

Taylor Farms is recalling salsa and guacamole products due to potential salmonella contamination, affecting over 20 prepared food items containing jalapeños distributed to stores in 26 states. The recall was initiated after Coast Citrus Distributors recalled fresh jalapeños due to potential salmonella contamination.
The recalled products include multiple salsas and guacamoles, and ready-to-eat items such as rice and bean burrito, spicy roast beef sandwich, and fiesta-style salad shrimp. The products have a 'best if used by' date through August 16.
Taylor Farms is no longer sourcing from the grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, identified as the potential source of the salmonella outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating the salmonella outbreak, which has sickened 345 people across 27 states and led to 36 hospitalizations.
Taylor Farms is unaware of any reported illnesses linked to the voluntarily recalled items. The recall is a precautionary measure to ensure consumer safety.
## What's Next The company's decision to recall the products and stop sourcing from the identified grower in Mexico is aimed at preventing further contamination. Consumers are advised to check the 'best if used by' dates and return any affected products to the store.
The salmonella outbreak has led to a public health alert for meat products containing jalapeños, issued by federal officials. The investigation into the outbreak is ongoing, with the CDC and FDA working to identify the source and prevent further illnesses.
