US Air Force Renames Base After Lindsey Graham
Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina is now Joint Base Lindsey Graham, honoring the late senator's three decades of military service
The US Air Force has renamed Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina to Joint Base Lindsey Graham, in honor of the late Senator Lindsey Graham. The formal ceremony was attended by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Sen. Darlene Graham, and South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster.
The ceremony included speeches praising Graham's military service and dedication to the state of South Carolina. Graham served more than three decades in the Air Force and died on July 11 from an aortic dissection.
Joint Base Charleston, now Joint Base Lindsey Graham, supports more than 60 Pentagon and federal agencies. The base was created in 2010 after the merger of a Navy base and an Air Force base that were both established in 1941.
