MakeMyTrip Acquires Quick Ride
Travel tech major buys majority stake in Bengaluru-based shared mobility platform to enter ride-pooling segment

MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in Quick Ride, a Bengaluru-based shared mobility platform, to enter the ride-pooling segment and expand its presence in ground transportation. The acquisition will allow MakeMyTrip to establish a presence in daily intra-city commutes and strengthen its intercity travel offerings.
The Quick Ride brand and ride-pooling business have been transferred to a newly formed entity, Co Ride Mobility Private Limited, in which MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake. Quick Ride's promoters will continue to lead the business, while its electric vehicle (EV) taxi business will remain with its predecessor entity, iDisha Info Labs Pvt Ltd.
Quick Ride was founded in 2014 by KNM Rao and has raised over $14 million from investors like Sequoia, Prosus, and Venture Highway. The company reported revenue of ₹54.2 crore and a profit of ₹4.5 crore in FY25.
MakeMyTrip has been expanding its presence across travel and mobility segments, with previous acquisitions and investments including Savaari in car rentals, Happay in corporate travel and expense management, and Flamingo Transworld in regional group holiday packages. The company reported gross bookings of $2.72 billion in Q2 FY27, up 20.9% year-on-year in constant currency.
## Why it matters The acquisition is significant as it marks MakeMyTrip's entry into the ride-pooling segment, which is complementary to its existing ground transportation portfolio. The company plans to leverage its experience in building redBus, both in India and overseas, to scale the business. With the acquisition, MakeMyTrip aims to establish a presence in high-frequency daily commutes within cities, as well as intercity travel.
MakeMyTrip has filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) confidentially with the SEBI on July 24, 2026, targeting a domestic initial public offering (IPO) expected to exceed $1 billion. The acquisition of Quick Ride is part of the company's expansion strategy, which includes selective strategic partnerships, investments, and acquisitions that complement and strengthen its existing business.
